1. Who we are

Render is a personal recipe manager app. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to the developer of Render.

2. What data we collect

Render is designed to be private by default. Here is what we collect and where it goes:

Data stored only on your device (never sent to us):

• Your recipes, ingredients, steps, and notes
• Food photos in your gallery
• Starred recipes and preferences
• Your name (used only to personalise the app experience)
• App settings including theme preference
• AI extraction usage count (for the free tier limit)

Data sent to third-party services:

• AI Recipe Extraction — When you use the Extract Recipe feature, the URL, text, or photo you provide is sent to Anthropic's API to extract recipe information. This content is processed by Anthropic according to their Privacy Policy. We do not store this content on our servers.

3. Data we do not collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information
• We do not track your location
• We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
• We do not serve advertisements
• We do not sell your data to third parties
• We do not create user accounts or profiles

4. How your data is stored

All your recipes, photos, and preferences are stored locally on your device using browser storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). This data never leaves your device except as described in Section 2.

Photos you add to recipes or your gallery are compressed and stored on-device. They are not uploaded to any server.

5. In-App Purchases

Render offers an optional Premium subscription at $1.99 USD per month. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information. Apple's Privacy Policy governs the purchase transaction.

Your subscription status is verified through Apple's systems. We do not store your payment details.

6. Children's privacy

Render is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

7. Third-party services

The app uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic API — For AI recipe extraction. Anthropic Privacy Policy
• Apple App Store — For app distribution and in-app purchases. Apple Privacy Policy
• Google Fonts — For typography (Playfair Display, DM Sans). Loaded from Google's CDN. Google Privacy Policy

8. Data backup and export

Render includes a Backup Recipes feature that exports your recipe data as a JSON file to your device. This file is stored locally and is not sent to us. You are responsible for the security of any exported files.

9. Your rights

Since all data is stored on your device, you have full control over it at all times:

• Access — All your data is visible within the app
• Export — Use the Backup Recipes feature in Settings
• Delete — Delete individual recipes or clear all gallery photos in Settings. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
